The first adventure starts at a small village about 50 miles from the western coast of Redfall, one of the major political powers in the world. Redfall is a powerful LN constitutional oligarchy, where crime and personal freedoms are nearly nonexistent. However, the tiny village of Arden is far from the country’s capital, far from the nearest major city, and even far from the nearest small town. It’s basically isolated, cut off from the rest of the country by a long line of sheer cliffs that run north-south, parallel to the coast. There is a Old Coastal Road that goes through Arden, but it’s seldom used by anyone but traders and adventurers. It goes from the mountains of Argotha in the north, through this isolated part of Redfall and then through the country of Kneiss to the south, down to the frontier countries and the borderlands beyond.
You may be traveling north to the dwarven enclaves of Argotha to help fight goblins and giants, or you may be traveling south to freedom in Kneiss, or further to adventures on the borderlands, or even in the jungles beyond the borders. You could even be from Redfall proper, fleeing to the wilderness of the west to avoid the law.
